First Steps

Amaya took her first steps yesterday! She took 3 wobbly steps to her daddy. That has to be the cutest thing I have ever seen!

Amaya's Birthday

I've been so busy that I haven't had time to post about Amaya's Birthday! I can't believe my baby turned one on September 12!

We had a really nice time. On the 11th we rented a hotel room right on the beach. It was a 2 room suite with an ocean view. We tried to go to the beach that night but it was really windy and a little chilly. Amaya is terrified of the waves. I couldn't get her to even look at the water. We then took a little walk and got something to eat. Later that night we all got in the huge jacuzzi that was in the room. She really liked that! She fell asleep with the balcony open so she could hear the waves crashing on the beach. I had a hard time sleeping because I was thinking about how I was in labor just a year ago. It made me really sad!

The morning started out with a beautiful sunrise. There is nothing prettier than a sunrise on the beach! Amaya woke up so happy. She got to open some presents and then we ate breakfast on the beach. At 10:11am we sang Happy Birthday to her. Again I got emotional.

We left the beach and went to Chuck E. Cheese. Amaya loved it there. She played games with her daddy to win some tickets. She ate almost a whole piece of pizza and she was drinking out of a big kids cup with a straw. Her favorite part was when Chuck E. came out to dance. I think she is going to be musically inclined because she loves music and dancing.

We went home for the last part of her Birthday. We didn't have a party because all of our friends and family live 1,200 miles away or further. She opened the rest of her presents and ate some birthday cake. She got a whole bunch of good stuff! We had her highchair close to the couch so Sugar could get in on the cake pictures. It was so cute seeing those two eat cake together.

All in all it was a great day. She didn't have a party like the rest of the babies in the world but it was a very special day. I am so proud to have such an amazing one year old!

We are watching Hurricane Hanna because we are in the projected path. It might be here by Saturday afternoon. Keep us in your thoughts! I am so terrified of storms since the tornado hit our house on 4/28/08.

Well, Amaya is turning out to be like her mom already. We took her to The Children's Museum and she played in the baby area. She was going around kissing all the boys and crawling after them. It was so adorable. She never gets to see baby boys so I'm sure it is very exciting for her! She has playdates with little girls.

Labor day is tomorrow and we are doing absolutely nothing. I'm going to attempt to cook a real recipe. Scary I know! I normally just like to eat fruits and veggies with no frills. We will see how it turns out.

I've also decided that it is time for me to start losing weight. I tip the scales at 235 right now. Two people told me congratulations on my pregnancy and I'm not even pregnant! That means I am really huge. Part of the weight was gained because of pregnancy and the other was after my car wreck. I would really like to have another baby in the next year. Losing weight will increase my chances that I will have a natural birth.
