Last night we saw an amazing thing happen in history. The first African-American was elected as President. I am so happy about that because he was the best choice for the job. It is also great that the Democrats will control such a large percentage of the Senate and House of Representatives.
The thing that made me really sad that America voted against gay rights all over the country. In Arkansas they voted against Initiative Act I which is An Act Providing that an Individual who is Cohabiting Outside of a Valid Marriage May Not Adopt or be a Foster Parent of a Child Less than Eighteen Years Old. That also discriminates against us heterosexual unmarried couples. In California they voted for Proposition 8 which is for a gay marriage ban. In Florida they voted for Proposition 2 that says Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized."
I am very shocked that there is so much bigotry in this country. Using your religion to discriminate against a whole group of people is not what God would want you to do. Maybe you should read the whole bible and not just a couple of verses.

This is a very touchy subject as I have friends that are gay, but in light of differing, what version of the Bible do you use? As a Christian we are to hate the sin, not the sinner.
Check out 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. It clearly states who will not inherit the kingdom of God. Fortunately for me, it's not my decision but God's and theirs.
I love openly and nonoffensively/nondefensively talking (not arguing) about things.
This is a touchy subject for me too. My passion for gay rights stems from how I was treated in high school. I'm sure you remember when I was pushed into lockers, spit on, gum thrown on my hair and even had death threats. Somebody even put crosses in my yard and KKK literature on my door step all the time. Why? It was because I fell in love with someone outside of my own race. That was not normal a little over 10 years ago. I sat in my own dad's church and members told me bible verses on why interracial relationships were wrong and I was going to hell. So, I totally understand what it is like to be in love with someone and it is not accepted by Christians.
Yes it says that homosexuality is a sin in the Bible. There are a lot of sins that are listed in the Bible that many Christians commit. No one is without sin except for Jesus. John 8:7 says He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. The Bible verse that I base my whole life on is Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. As a Christian it is my duty to love everyone and want what is the best for each person. That includes homosexuals, drug addicts, prostitutes or anyone else that the majority thinks is "evil."
All gay couples want is to be able to love their partner freely. They want to be able to make medical decisions for their partner in an emergency. You know that if one partner dies that a long lost family member can challenge the will and custody arrangements. They can seize real estate and force the partner out on the street. Not too long ago interracial couples were struggling with the same thing. It does not seem very Christian like to deny any human basic rights.
This is one of my favorite poems by Martin Niemoeller a famous Christian activist. It is one of the things that inpires me every day.
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me--
and there was no one left to speak out for me.
